Solicitor refuses to continue?
Your solicitor refuses to continue with your case
Sometimes a solicitor can decide to refuse to act for you in accordance with the agreement that you have with them, provided certain criteria are met. This may well be completely acceptable and no action can be taken against the solicitor for this, however you will likely still require representation and here at Nexus we can help.
Allegations of Fundamental Dishonesty (link) in particular can lead to your own solicitor refusing to continue to act for you, sometimes very shortly before you are due to go to Court, leaving you without representation and we understand that this can cause significant concern and anxiety.
On other occasions the solicitor loses faith in the prospects of success of your claim and once again it may be perfectly acceptable for them to refuse to act for you. However, sometimes this can lead to a cost bill being sent to you with a demand for payment and there may be a serious challenge you can make to this. Please see our other section of the site for this specific issue (link).
We at Nexus highly recommend that if you are affected by such issues you should seek urgent professional legal advice regardless of whether that is with us, another solicitor or barrister.
We can be contacted using our free very simple no obligation contact form and one of us will be in touch to discuss your situation further.
